Lego Robots

CNET News has a neat article up on some new Lego offerings unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Lego's Mindstorms NXT is nothing less than a full function robot constructed from various Lego bricks and pieces; and a pretty impressive one at that. Some of its features include:
  • Full range of bipedal movement.
  • Four different types of sensors: ultrasonics that act as eyes, as well as those that react to light, sound, and touch.
  • Bluetooth functionality so that each unit can be controlled by, or take control of, any Bluetooth device.
There's a starter kit that comes out in August for about 250 bucks. That's pretty cheap considering larger Lego kits that don't include sophisticated electronic components often reach somewhere in the $200 range.

My only concern is that some day, someone will build a Bluetooth enable sentry gun or something. Then we'll all be bowing down to our Lego Robot masters...
