Make Your iPod Suck Somewhat Less
I hate Macs and, in general, all things Apple. Cutesy, trendy shit pisses me off. Add to that the utterly craptastic iTunes interface, and you've got one big god damned ball of new age faux hippie consumerist ass.
Anyway, aside from that, my only real problem with the iPod is the fact that it has what is essentially a standard, though miniaturized, hard drive. This, of course, means that it can get fucked in exactly the same way as any other spinning hard disc. And for a device that is supposedly designed for the bump and tumble of jogging and all-around portability, that can be a problem.
In comes this neat little mod from Instructables. Basically, this little "how-to" will take you through the steps of converting you 4th gen + iPod into a solid state device. In a nutshell, you'll need a compact flash drive, a cheap-ass Chinese converter board from eBay, and a little time and patience.
It apparently works quite nicely, and can bring a dead iPod back to the land of tragically trendy living. just be careful to read the entire Instructable, before you make an attempt, though. I mistakenly assumed that this would work on a 3rg gen to the tune of 30 waster dollars.
